I just talked to my colleague at Apple, who is involved in the selection process (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=F0Q1lZ0AAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao). The key takeaways are:
- having experience in audio processing is not a must but you must be really good in ML
- good in ML means you are quick with a framework, have a lot of applications already...the tempo at Apple is very intense
- they will do a shortlist of candidates based on the CV and then conduct online interviews with them
