Midterm Examination Rules

Final Examination Rules

Online exam procedure:
1.  Students will use the e-classroom to view the exam.

2.  Students must enter a zoom meeting 15 minutes before the exam time - the link will be contained in the exam assignment from step (1).They must show an ID to an invigilator. This ID must match your student ID number, and the name must match your displayed name in zoom. Students will be divided into manageable groups for the exam.

3.  During the recorded zoom meeting the students have to keep their microphones and
cameras on. The camera should be aimed at their working space – where they will write their solutions onto paper (see picture below). Invigilators will monitor the view to ensure exam conditions. Students should interact as little as possible with the computer – scrolling the view to see another question is acceptable, tapping/interacting will be flagged by the invigilators, and this will be considered during the marking of the exam. Any student who's script is flagged and suspected of cheating will be invited to justify their answers of their script in a 1 on 1 zoom meeting with the lecturer. Failure to comply with these guidelines will result in a mark of 0 on the exam. The recording will be deleted after the marking is complete.

4. Failure to attend the zoom meeting for the exam and to complete ID check will have the same affect as failing to show up for the exam.

5. At the end of the exam, there will be time allocated to upload scans of your solutions to the assignment in the e-classroom. They must be uploaded in pdf format. (Approx.20minutes – please provide feedback if this process usually takes you longer.)

6. At this stage, the invigilator may ask a random sample to show their scripts to the camera.

7.  If you cannot take an exam under these conditions, write to me and we can discuss. If no agreement can be found, I recommend that you apply for “exceptional circumstances/special consideration” to the program director and he/she considers your case.

8.  Please view this whole process as us offering you the opportunity to take an exam in these exceptional circumstances. This is a pathway to complete your studies in this course.

9. Printing out the exam - you may do this in the initial 15 minutes during ID check. After returning from the printer, you must show the printing to the invigilator who must verify that the printing is just the exam paper.

10. Online chat in zoom - please keep this window somewhere in your view. If an invigilator wants to warn you, they will do so via the private chat. Failure to respond will result in your script being flagged.

11. The rules for plagiarism are displayed on the e-classroom. Above all, I request that you all respect the system, the work that your fellow students have done and the work of the assistants and myself.
